The Dance of Materials and Time: Tissot PRX Titanium and Damascus

In the heart of Le Locle, Tissot once again redefines modern watchmaking through bold innovation. The latest PRX Titanium and PRX Damascus models are a celebration of materials—where lightness, durability, and refined design meet in perfect harmony.

The PRX collection, first introduced in 1978, has long been a symbol of precision and strength. Its name combines “P” for Precision, “R” for Robustness, and the Roman numeral “X,” indicating water resistance up to 10 bar. Reintroduced in recent years, the PRX line swiftly became a modern classic thanks to its integrated bracelet and clean, angular architecture that embodies both confidence and timelessness.

In 2025, Tissot takes the PRX spirit further by embracing two exceptional materials—titanium and stainless Damascus steel. The titanium versions are crafted entirely from this ultra-light and highly durable metal, providing an unmatched level of comfort on the wrist. Two distinct dial executions express different personalities: one in deep blue with nickel-plated baton hands and applied Arabic numeral indexes, and another in anthracite with rose-gold-toned details for a more refined and contemporary character. Both feature the signature waffle-pattern dial that enhances depth and legibility.

The Damascus version, however, is a true masterpiece of craftsmanship and material science. For the first time in its history, Tissot employs stainless Damascus steel—a metal historically admired for its layered texture and exceptional hardness. Its mesmerizing, wave-like patterns play with light as the wrist moves, giving each watch a unique, almost living surface.

To create this remarkable material, Tissot uses a state-of-the-art process: two contrasting types of stainless steel powder are layered and fused using Hot Isostatic Pressing, combining heat close to fusion temperature with pressures up to 1000 bar. The result is a solid, multi-layered steel block composed of roughly 70 distinct layers. This block is then precisely machined on CNC equipment and finished by hand, where brushed and polished surfaces interact beautifully to reveal the depth of the Damascus motif.

Each PRX Damascus watch is, by its very nature, unique—no two patterns are ever the same. The dial and case crafted from this metal embody both modern precision and artisanal soul. Baton-shaped hands and black-nickel indexes ensure clarity, while the matching leather strap with Damascus steel end links and clasp echoes the aesthetic unity of the design.

At the core of all these models lies Tissot’s reliable Powermatic 80 movement, which delivers an impressive 80-hour power reserve. The Nivachron hairspring ensures superior resistance to magnetic fields, shocks, and temperature variations, safeguarding precision over time. The movement sits beneath a sapphire crystal—second only to diamond in hardness—guaranteeing enduring clarity and protection.

Tissot’s history of material innovation stretches back decades. In 1969, the brand launched the Sideral with a fiberglass case, followed by the 1971 Idea 2001, the first mechanical watch made entirely from synthetic materials. The 1985 RockWatch, crafted from granite, pushed the boundaries even further. This bold legacy lives on today through the PRX Titanium and PRX Damascus, where tradition meets cutting-edge technology.

Together, these new PRX models embody the future of material-driven horology. Titanium’s featherlight precision and Damascus steel’s centuries-old artistry coexist in perfect tension—engineering and emotion, modernity and heritage.

The Tissot PRX Titanium and PRX Damascus are not merely timekeeping instruments; they are personal statements for those who appreciate craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless design. They are watches made not just to be worn, but to be experienced—a continuation of Tissot’s enduring dialogue between time, craft, and material mastery.
