Girard-Perregaux is consistently solidifying its standing in modern watchmaking by drawing profound inspiration from its venerable heritage. For 2025, the brand is creating a new masterpiece by merging its iconic Laureato model with the Manufacture’s most recognizable signature: the Three Gold Bridges mechanism. This convergence is opening a new chapter in horological history, serving as a powerful testament to both technical mastery and aesthetic perfection. The Laureato’s sporty elegance is gracefully honouring a tradition that has been ongoing since Constant Girard’s patent for the Tourbillon “Sous Trois Ponts d’Or” (Tourbillon Under Three Gold Bridges) in 1867.
The new Laureato Three Gold Bridges is presenting an elegant marriage of the brand’s two legendary signatures. The 41-millimetre titanium case is faithfully maintaining the Laureato’s distinctive design language, featuring an octagonal bezel that is encircling a circular ring and a tonneau-shaped case body. These geometric contrasts are beautifully balancing the watch’s identity in a unique way. The use of titanium for the case is ensuring the watch is both light and durable on the wrist, making it an ideal piece of high horology for daily use.
At the very core of the timepiece is lying Girard-Perregaux’s Manufacture calibre GP09600. This self-winding mechanism is featuring the brand's iconic Three Gold Bridges architecture. The bridges are dramatically showcasing the entire mechanism as if it were a stage, and the hand-polishing (bevel) on the edges of the bridges is demonstrating the highest level of craftsmanship. The calibre is delivering a power reserve of at least 55 hours and is being equipped with a continuously operating Tourbillon escapement system. The Tourbillon is constantly counteracting the negative effects of gravity on timekeeping accuracy, thereby enhancing the watch’s precision. This Tourbillon is providing both lightness and strength through its lyre-shaped cage, which is crafted from titanium.
Another crucial detail within the mechanism is the presence of a platinum micro-rotor. This micro-rotor is automatically replenishing the power reserve while it is simultaneously not obstructing the transparent mechanism design. The calibre GP09600 is incorporating a diverse range of finissage techniques, including sandblasted, circular, and straight satin surfaces. Most significantly, there are no fewer than 418 hand-polished angles on the mechanism bridges, and of these, 362 are inward angles, which is considered one of the highest echelons of technical craftsmanship. Each calibre is being personally signed by the master watchmaker who is assembling it from beginning to end, offering a guarantee of individual expertise. The sapphire crystal caseback is affording an admirable view of this technical and artistic richness. With this new edition, the Laureato is continuing to be a perpetually shining star in the world of high watchmaking, beautifully blending the heritage of the past with the technical innovations of the future.
