TAG Heuer keep celebrating the Monaco Collection’s 50th anniversary full throttle! Designed for the third decade of the collection, Monaco 1989-1999 Limited Edition was introduced in New York.
TAG Heuer uses the fashion of the era and the colors that stand out in this watch, just like the two previous models. The main changes in the models, designed to be true to the original DNA of Monaco, are in the form of colors, straps and dials.
The watch’s 39mm x 39mm stainless steel square case features polished surfaces. The dial is again covered with sapphire crystal and the 9 o’clock position of the winding crown, a signature of the collection, remains the same.
Inside the modern Monaco’s case is the Caliber 11 with the inverted Dubois-Depraz chronograph module, providing a 40-hour power reserve when fully wound. The movement is covered by a solid stainless steel case back with the inscriptions “1989-1999 Special Edition” and “One of 169” on it.
TAG Heuer Monaco 1989-1999 Limited Edition brings most of its innovations to the dial. The design features contrasting textures to remind the 1990s industrial, street style. Rough texture and rhodium plating on the base of the dial. Thus, a metallic but matte color is obtained. The hands and hour markers are identical to the two previous models. The hands feature Super-LumiNova and the red details reflect the racing spirit.
The sub-dials are home to two different tones. In the center of the gauges, sandblasting and rhodium plating are used, while the lines on the sides stand out with a dark blue color.
Monaco 1989-1999 Limited Edition comes on a blue leather strap with red stitching to match the dial. The price of the model is CHF 7,100.
