Apple Watch Series 7

Apple, one of the heavyweights of the connected watch product group, introduced the new Apple Watch Series 7.

One of the first names that come to mind in the connected watch segment, whose market share is expanding rapidly, Apple introduced the 7th generation of its successful model family. Apple Watch, whose popularity has increased since the day it was introduced, keeps its connection with cutting-edge technology with its 7th generation.

Among the important details of the model family, which is announced to be available this fall, is the new display, which has been developed with almost no change in the current dimensions of the watch, 50% thicker crystal, new operating system, and application updates that improve the user experience.

Series 7 draws a profile that is more compatible with the robust and sporty theme of the last generation with its aluminum and steel case options. Options include Green, Blue, Red, Starlight, and Midnight. The Series 7 maintains the same waterproof rating as the 6, while IP6X raises the bar for dust proofing. The 50% thicker crystal supports the claim of “the toughest Apple Watch ever made”.

In the new generation models, the user experience also improves thanks to the larger screen size. Supporting Quickpath typing (letter to letter scrolling) in addition to the normal keyboard, the screen offers 20% more space than the previous generation.

While the 18-hour battery standby time we saw in Series 6 does not change in Series 7, the battery reaches an 80% charge rate in just 45 minutes.

Series 7 runs on WatchOS 8, which continues to add features for personal safety, health, and wellness. Announced by Apple last June, WatchOS 8 includes two new Fitness modes for Tai Chi (taijiquan) and Pilates, as well as the ability to monitor breathing (via the accelerometer) while you sleep. WatchOS 8 also lets you use the watch to unlock and start your car.

The Breathe app has also received an update – now called the Mindfulness app, and in addition to the standard Breathe exercise comes an exercise called Reflect, which invites you to contemplate a thought or memory aimed at creating a sense of calmness. In addition to Tai Chi and Pilates workouts, there are also some feature enhancements for cyclists. In addition to the usual ongoing training metrics, automatic pause and resume are also available (for those who wait a long time at a traffic light). In addition to the separate measurement algorithms for electric/assisted pedaling exercises, the fall detection algorithm can recognize the specific physical pattern of falling off the bike.

As the connected watch market expands, the brands that try to get a share of the market keep working to make their products more attractive. Although these technological devices, which were believed to be able to drag mechanical watchmaking to the brink of a second crisis, continue to make our lives easier, they never seem to replace a mechanical watch in the eyes of a watch lover.
