Two major events in watch industry, Baselworld and Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), has decided to coordinate their dates. New plan will start from 2020, SIHH will now be held from April 26 to 29 in Geneva and will be followed immediately by Baselworld from April 30 to May 5. This arrangement has been confirmed until 2024.
In past years, SIHH and Baselworld were taking place during January and May respectively. From 2020, professionals and watch enthusiasts can visit both fairs in succession. “Baselworld and the SIHH are working for the industry and its clients. We have sought dialogue with the SIHH and together have found a solution, which benefits visitors, the media, and the entire watchmaking industry enormously”, declared Michel Loris-Melikoff, Managing Director of Baselworld. “This partnership between the two most prominent exhibitions in the industry represents a major breakthrough for the future.”
Some brands, including Swatch Group had announced that they decided to exit from Baselworld as known. Some of these brands will introduce their new models in SIHH and some of them will performs individual shows on their own. We will see the effects of this collaboration between these fairs on watch industry with time.
