Bell & Ross, one of the unique brands in the world of luxury watchmaking thanks to its iconic timepieces inspired by the gauges on the airplane cockpits, is the guest of our pages with the Bell & Ross BR V2-94 AeroNavale model from the Vintage Collection which tributes to the early years of aviation.
Among the product lines of the French origin watchmaker, doubtlessly the iconic square case models from the Instruments and Experimental Collections are the most favored ones by the watch enthusiasts. Highly acclaimed by the loyal followers of the brands with their cult designs and tool watch character, those timepieces are certainly not for everyone. Bell & Ross, who eliminates this situation with the aviation inspired Vintage Collection, continues to please the watch aficionados with the 3rd generation of the collection.
The model we have chosen for you from the Vintage Collection is the Bell & Ross BR V2-94 AeroNavale. In addition to the model we have here, there is also a three-hand version as well.
Bell & Ross BR V2-94 AeroNavale is offered in a mirror polished stainless steel case measuring 41mm in diameter. The case is equipped with a blue anodized aluminum insert bezel with 60 minutes marking on the front face. Accompanied by a screw-in winding crown and a set of screw-in chronograph pushers, the case sports a super-domed AR coated scratch resistant sapphire crystal on the front side and a sapphire crystal display case back at the rear side. The case is water resistant to 100 meters / 10 bars.
One of the most eye-catching parts of the model, which offers a pretty simple and normal stance when compared the square case models that provided the brand its cult status, is undoubtedly its cobalt blue dial. One of the most beautiful examples of the "blue dial" trend, which marked the Baselworld 2016 exhibition, the dial is designed with a Sun-Beam surface pattern. Except the hour markers at 6 and 12 that are arranged in big Arabic numerals, the dial is accompanied by baton style hands and indices. Another very well thought-out detail on the dial that boosts the Retro appeal of the model with its Bi-Compax chronograph lay-out is the use of gold tone accents. The dial sports a pair of sub-counters for 30 minutes and small seconds and a well-blended date display located between 4 and 5 o’clock.
The model ticks with the brand’s BR-Cal. 301 movement. Based on the reliable Caliber ETA-2894-2, which is preferred by many brands from different segments, the self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Besides its time keeping function, the movement features Bi-Compax chronograph and date functions and can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display case back.
Another highlight of the Bell & Ross BR V2-94 AeroNavale is its leather strap. The handmade calf-skin strap, which is arranged in matching blue tone and adorned with contrasting white stitches, contributes to the striking appearance of the model along with the blue bezel and dial. The strap is secured by a Bell & Ross signed folding clasp made of stainless steel.
Bell & Ross BR V2-94 AeroNavale takes its place in our archives as one of the most successful examples of the Heritage trend with its stunning dial color, simple but functional design and well balanced retro spirit.
