Ferdinand Berthoud, the Hi-End watchmaker who continues to operate under the famous jewellery and watch brand Chopard, introduced its latest model Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1.3
The recently introduced model is the third generation of the Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud platform. The boutique brand, which is owned by Chopard, aims to present complicated horological elements with modern and unique designs.
The new model is offered in the brand’s symbol detail octagonal case measuring 43mm x 13mm. Inspired by the suspension system of a marine chronometer, the case houses the movement (and the dial) in a special container. One of the prominent design features of the case is the sapphire crystal glass displays on the sides of the case. Some components of the movement, including the chain and fusee system, can be enjoyed through those displays.
The model’s dial is designed in contrasting color. The time reading function is displayed through the sub-dial at 12 o’clock. There is a unique power reserve indicator scaled to 0, ¼, ½, and ¾ present at the left side of the dial. The 60 minute Tourbillon escapement and the torque system can be seen though the open heart type display at 6 o’clock. All indices and markings are done by hand and accompanied by a set of dagger style hands.
Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1.3 is powered by the Caliber Ref. FB-T.FC. The movement tributes to the early years of traditional watch making with its chain-driven system and titanium columns to secure the movement to the main plate and bridges. COSC certified movement beats at 21600vph and offers 53 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
The Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1.3 is offered with a black alligator strap. The strap can be bought with a standard buckle or a folding clasp both made of Grade 950 Titanium. MSRP is $ 260,400 (US list).
