Min. ReadDOXA Unveils Special Edition SUB 300T Sharkhunter Clive Cussler
In celebration of Clive Cussler's 93rd birthday, DOXA has released the special edition SUB 300T Sharkhunter Clive Cussler. This marks the second tribute to the legendary author, maritime explorer, and NUMA founder, whose adventure novels have significantly popularized DOXA's diving watches.
Clive Cussler, born on July 15, 1931, in Illinois, authored over 85 books, selling more than 100 million copies worldwide. His iconic character, Dirk Pitt, often wore the SUB's distinctive orange dial. Cussler himself was an avid shipwreck hunter, founding the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA) in 1979.
This new special edition watch features a stainless-steel case with an aged patina, reminiscent of the original SUB 300T Clive Cussler presented last year. The black Sharkhunter dial displays hours, minutes, seconds, and date, with striking white hands and indexes. The standout feature is the compass rose marking the four cardinal points, symbolizing exploration and adventure.
The case back is engraved with the names of shipwrecks and historical artifacts discovered by NUMA, connecting the watch to maritime history. The watch face is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, and all diving-related displays are coated with Super-LumiNova® for optimal readability during dives.
Powered by a Swiss automatic movement with exclusive DOXA decorations, the watch operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4.0 Hz) and offers a 38-hour power reserve. It features a date window at 3 o'clock, a screw-down crown, and is water-resistant to 300 meters (984 feet).
The watch comes with both a ‘beads of rice’ metal bracelet in aged steel and a sportier black FKM rubber strap, both featuring a folding clasp with a wetsuit extension. Each piece is individually engraved with its serial number (XX/93) on the inside of the lugs. A portion of the sales will be donated to NUMA, honoring Cussler's legacy of exploration.
