Within the scope of 2021 novelties, Montblanc introduced new models with Exo Tourbillon features, which bring a unique and innovative perspective to traditional luxury watchmaking.
The brand's experienced watchmaker Frederic Kehli's thousands of hours of work lies in the concept, which emerged as the product of an R&D work of more than five years. Thanks to its complicated movement, the model, which focuses on presenting the time to its user in different ways by “transforming”, sheds light on the point where the brand has reached today with its latest version.
The new model comes in a mighty case measuring 50mm in diameter and 18.9mm in height. Made of 18K white gold, the case promises a bold and strong presence on the wrist, taking into account the specific gravity of the metal. The case, with sapphire crystals on both sides, can withstand 30 meters of water pressure. The oversized case is accompanied by an 18K white gold crown decorated with a mother-of-pearl Montblanc emblem.
The model is home to a dial with hand-engraved "grain d'orge" Guilloché patterns on blue background. In addition to the 18K white gold hour and minute hands, the stainless steel second hand functions on the dial, which has a filet sauté Guilloché pattern around it. The northern hemisphere figure, designed in three dimensions and prepared with hand embroidery representing continents and oceans, is accompanied by an aventurine disc showing the sky, stars, and moon.
Montblanc Star Legacy Metamorphosis Limited Edition 8 comes to life with the Caliber MB M67.60. The hand-wound movement, designed and manufactured in-house, operates at a frequency of 2.5Hz (18.800vph) and offers up to 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The transformation states of the movement (and the dial) are as follows; Closed face: worldtime with Northern Hemisphere globe surrounded by a 24-hour scale and day/night indication. Open face: one-minute patented Exo Tourbillon, Northern Hemisphere globe surrounded by the sky on an aventurine disc showing the stars and the realistic moon phases, date display at 12 o’clock.
The model, which deserves to be called Hi-End in every way, comes with a blue Sfumato alligator strap and an 18K white gold buckle. The list price for the model is 250.000 EUR.
Montblanc Star Legacy Suspended Exo Tourbillon Limited Edition 18, another model in the Hi-End series, comes in an 18K white gold case measuring 44.8mm in diameter and 15.03mm in height. The case, with sapphire crystals on both sides, is waterproof up to 30 meters. The model is accompanied by a gold crown with a mother-of-pearl Montblanc logo.
The model is home to a dial made of 18K white gold with a grained silvery white background dial. The time is read from the sub-dial located at 12 o'clock. Black large numeral indices and blued 18K white gold hands work on the white-ground sub-dial. At 6 o'clock, there is the patented Exo Tourbillon fixed with a single bridge. Tourbillon, which completes a full tour in one minute, also serves as a small second.
Montblanc Star Legacy Suspended Exo Tourbillon Limited Edition 18 is powered by the manufacture Caliber MB 16.18. 2.5Hz (18.000vph) hand-wound Exo Tourbillon movement offers approximately 50 hours of power reserve.
The list price for the model, which comes with a blue Sfumato alligator strap and 18K white gold buckle, is 109,000 EUR.
