Patek Philippe Aquanaut (Ref. 5168G-010)

Here we are with Patek Philippe in its sportiest form. The new Aquanaut, which is called as the “modern times’ Jumbo” salutes its fans with its khaki green details.

Classic lines, elegant and small cases, high complications, leather straps hand made with great care, dials with eye-catching details, the list goes on... Those were just a few of the features that came to mind when it is all about Patek Philippe. Aquanaut on the other hand reflects the young, dynamic and sporty face of the brand. The new member of the series that showed up with its thick lines instead of classic ones, big cases, complication free movements and even with rubber straps, offers features which can be extraordinary for the brand’s fans even if not for all the watch enthusiasts.

5168G, as the letter G expresses, comes in an 18K white gold case. The case measuring 42,2mm x 8,25mm case is quite large when compared to the brand’s other models. The combination of shiny and brushed surfaces has a very high quality finish, as one would expect. The problem is that the unprotected structure of the brushed bezel against scratches is the harbinger of signs related to daily wear. Let’s not worry about scratches, and keep exploring the model. The case is equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and is water resistant to 120 meters.

When you look at Aquanaut’s dial, it is likely that you will see a world divided by parallel and meridian lines. This visual effect is makes the watch look bigger. Considering the oversized dimensions, you get a Patek Philippe, which looks quite bold on the wrist. The Arabic numeral indexes and hands are filled with Super LumiNOVA, provides enough legibility in the dark.

The model is powered by the manufacture self-wing Caliber 324 S C. The letters S C in the caliber code indicate that the movement is a center second display type. The movement consists of 213 pieces/29 jewels, beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers a power reserve ranging from 35 to 45 hours. The movement, crowned with Patek Philippe Seal, fits the brand’s standards in terms of production quality and precision.

Patek Philippe 5168G comes on a high quality rubber strap in khaki green that is secured with a folding clasp made of 18K white gold. Strap sizing is done by cutting it; therefore, extreme caution is required while doing it.

Finally, the most exciting part. The new Aquanaut, which deserves to be called Jumbo, has a MSRP of € 35,710.00.
