Min. ReadPatek Philippe has swiftly expanded its Cubitus collection, unveiling two new midsized models just five months after the original release. Debuting at Watches and Wonders 2025, the Cubitus 7128/1G and 7128/1R now come in a more compact 40mm case with a slim 8.5mm height, crafted in white and rose gold, respectively. These new models retain the signature sunburst finish dial, with the white gold version featuring a refined blue-gray color and the rose gold variant showcasing an elegant brown hue..
At the heart of both models is the self-winding Caliber 26-330 S C/434, equipped with hacking seconds and a distinctive horizontally embossed pattern that complements the dial’s texture. The watches are paired with matching gold bracelets, each incorporating a lockable adjustment system and a patented Patek fold-over clasp secured by four independent catches.
This rapid introduction of a smaller Cubitus variant is an interesting strategic move by Patek Philippe. Typically, brands allow more time before modifying a recently launched model to let the originals maintain their spotlight.
From a design perspective, the reduction in size refines the Cubitus’s previously bold aesthetic, introducing a touch of elegance without compromising its distinct presence. The familiar Patek dial colors make these models a safer and more accessible choice compared to their predecessors, which were notably more polarizing.
Patek Philippe states that these new models are designed to suit all wrist sizes—perhaps an indirect acknowledgment that the original versions were on the larger side. Whether these serve as the dressier alternatives within the Cubitus family remains to be seen, but only hands-on experience will reveal their true character.
