Baselworld 2016 opened its doors today with many fascinating models launched by well known players of the watch industry. Being arguably one of the most awaited them of all, Patek Philippe released 28 new watches in various collections.
Let`s have a look at two of those novelties which we had a hard time taking our eyes off of them.
Our first novelty from the brand is the new World Time Chronograph Ref. 5930 which is awaited eagerly by the loyal followers.
The new World Time Chronograph Ref. 5930 offers a combination of two classic Patek Philippe features which have been seen only in a single piece produced in the 1940s. Undoubtedly, this new release will steal the hearts of many enthusiasts for top of the line timepieces.
The chronograph product line of the brand varies from hand wound traditional featuring horizontal clutches and the world’s thinnest split-seconds chronograph with two column wheels to the monopusher chronograph with a minute repeater and an instantaneous perpetual calendar.
With the release of the new Patek Philippe World Time Chronograph Ref. 5930, the brand brings together what is so emotionally reciprocal.
In fact there is one and only Patek Philippe World Time Chronograph is known which has been manufactured about 70 years ago. The Reference No. 862 442 ( produced in 1940 and shown in Patek Philippe museum ) sports a dial with pulsimeter and asthmometer scales at the sametime which is most probably owned by a scientist. With the release of Ref. 5930, Patek Philippe is now adding the World Time Chronograph as a new member to its standard collection, in a facelifted form for the new century.
In 2016, Patek Philippe’s patented Annual Calendar, which only needs to be corrected once a year, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. In order to pay tribute to the that special occasion, the brand has released a new model of this “user-friendly” complication. In fact, It is not a limited edition for the anniversary occasion, but a brillantly re-done and upgraded version that intellectually relates the 21 past models that have been produced since 1996 accompanied with the eclectic gold and platinum variations with different dial designs.
The new Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Ref. 5396 is available in 18K white gold with an amazing dark gray sunburst dial and in 18K rose gold with a silvery white opaline dial.
The two versions of the Ref. 5396 collection look similar to each other at the first glance however, they appear to be totally new the same time. To be more specific, they look similar as the style accents those have been granted for years, and they look new as they offer a combination of those accents in a way that has never been done before.
The first accent is the form of the case with its unmatched Calatrava character which is stunningly refined in a classic look inspired by the Ref. 96 in 1932, when the Bauhaus "form follows function" principle was memorialized in horology.
The new Ref. 5396 Annual Calendar features fine round lines which blend delicately with the strap lugs, accompanied by a smoothly mirror polished bezel over the dial. The sapphire-crystal glass is distinctly domed, awarding the timepiece with a balanced look and a modern appearance.
