Min. ReadRado's dedication to material innovation, initiated in the 1960s, continues with the True Square collection. Known for high-tech ceramic construction, this line was launched in 2020, showcasing square-shaped watches that challenge convention. Now, Rado unveils a trio of True Square Skeleton models with a matte sandblasted finish, offering a refined yet rugged aesthetic.
The new models replace the polished shine of their predecessors with a textured matte look. Available in three versions, the collection includes a matte gunmetal plasma ceramic model with a matching bracelet, a matte black ceramic version with a bracelet, and a matte black ceramic option with a sporty black rubber strap. These 38mm watches feature rounded edges for a contemporary, softened square shape.
The high-tech ceramic material is lightweight, scratch-resistant, and maintains its color over time. The skeletonised dial reveals technical intricacies, divided into three sections. At the top, the balance wheel with an anti-magnetic hairspring takes center stage. The middle section exposes parts of the gear train, while the barrel and mainspring dominate the lower part.
The plasma model introduces a matte finish to the material for the first time. Both the gunmetal and black ceramic models feature horizontal brushing on the mainplate, with bold Super-LumiNova indices and sandblasted hands for enhanced visibility. The rubber-strap version stands out with polished hands and a dynamic ribbed strap, adding a sporty vibe.
A sapphire crystal on the titanium caseback reveals the automatic calibre R808. This movement, equipped with a Nivachron hairspring, is resistant to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations, ensuring precision. With an impressive 80-hour power reserve, this caliber is both robust and reliable.
Rado’s True Square Skeleton Matte collection combines technical prowess and contemporary style, offering a unique interpretation of its iconic square watch design.
