Panerai seems to be one of the heavy hitters of SIHH 2016. The brand already warmed up watch enthusiasts with its new releases and special editions mainly focusing on Radiomir 1940 Collection.
The most attention grabbing models are PAM00627, PAM00657, PAM00628 and PAM00658. The 45mm stainless steel models feature the brand’s latest movements P.4001 and P.4002. WR100M rated watches sport double sapphire crystals on both sides.
The new models which feature the GMT and power reserve functions added version of the previous years micro rotor movement P.4000, are relatively thin due to the updated design of the winding mechanism.
While the models PAM00627 and PAM00657 features the power reserve indicator on the back sides, the PAM00628 and PAM00658 models have their power reserve indicators located at the dial. The models offer 3 days power reserve and a GMT hand which can be hidden under the hour hand if required.
Another novelty for the new models is the different dial forms. The sporty character of the timepieces are nicely boosted with the addition of Tuxedo and Hobnail dial styles.
Panerai releases several new models this year. Undoubtedly, the most desired models among the SIHH 2016 novelties are 1000 pieces limited models PAM00662 and PAM00663. PAM00662 features a 47mm Radiomir 1940 case while PAM00663 gets the most attention with it’s 48mm Luminor 1950 case. The stunning timepiece offers a very special dial in brown color similar to the "Petite Egiziano" produced in the 1950s with an exclusive SuperLuminova filling. We suggest all Paneristi out there to hurry up as it’s just a matter of time for those special models to be sold out instantly.
Though, the new models with 3 days power reserve manual winding movements bear the same Caliber Ref. with the standards, actually they are not exactly the same. WR100M rated models feature sapphire crystals on both sides.
Panerai also released a pair of models to be sold as a set. One of the PAM00786 series model features a black PVD coated case with a black dial and more importantly a “destro” style lay out. The other model sports a stainless steel case in full mirror polishing with blue dial index which should be noted as a bold move from Panerai design team. WR 300M rated watches are offered in a set accompanied with Panerai S.L.C Torpedo in the box set.
Our final novelty is a true masterpiece. PAM00578 features a skeleton tourbillon movement and a titanium case manufactured via layer pressing technique. The timepiece beats up with 6 days power reserve movement Caliber P.2006 and limited to 150 pieces only. PAM00578 wears remarkably comfortable on the wrist thanks to it’s unique titanium case. It’s one of the most futuristic designs of Panerai.
