Tudor introduces its latest military-grade watch, the Pelagos FXD GMT Zulu Time, developed with the French Marine Nationale for the Aéronautique Navale, France’s naval aviation force. Designed specifically for military pilots, this new model brings a GMT function to the Pelagos collection, a first for the FXD lineup.
The watch features a 42mm grade 2 titanium case, paired with a robust grade 5 titanium caseback, which ensures durability and a rugged tool-watch appearance. With a slim profile of 12.7mm, it’s even slightly thinner than Tudor's Black Bay 58 GMT. A signature feature of the FXD series, the fixed lugs, provides extra strength and distinguishes the model’s silhouette.
A standout addition to the FXD design is the bi-directional ceramic bezel with a 24-hour scale, perfect for tracking multiple time zones. The bright orange GMT hand, highly legible against the black dial, completes a full 24-hour rotation, enabling military personnel to check Zulu Time (UTC) instantly. This feature is crucial for aviators who need to maintain global time standards effortlessly.
Retaining standard Tudor FXD specifications, the watch is water-resistant up to 200m, includes a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and is finished with a screw-down crown. The caseback is engraved with the Marine Nationale logo and “M.N.24” to denote the 2024 production batch, adding to its collectibility.
The dial showcases Tudor’s trademark snowflake hands and chunky hour markers, all generously coated with beige Super-LumiNova for enhanced readability. The GMT hand and 24-hour bezel scale emit a green glow, contrasting with the blue luminescence of the hour markers, ensuring clear readability in low-light conditions.
Powered by the MT5652-U caliber developed with Kenissi, this watch is COSC-certified and METAS-certified as a Master Chronometer, ensuring resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 Gauss. With a precision range of 0 to +5 seconds per day, the movement operates at 4Hz and offers a 65-hour power reserve, providing reliable and accurate timekeeping.
Honoring the French Navy's historical use of their own straps, Tudor has paired the FXD GMT with a green textile strap, inspired by the French Naval Aviation flight suits. This 22mm single-piece strap, made from woven green polyester with a titanium buckle, features a roundel embroidery representing the French Naval Aviation.
