Baume & Mercier, from the Swiss watch industry’s well-established brands, was the guest of our hands-on corner with the Promesse Moon Phase (Ref. 10347) model which was introduced as a part of the brand’s SIHH 2017 novelties.
The new model belongs to Baume & Mercier’s acclaimed product line Promesse Collection. The model features the moon phase indicator – one the most aesthetic complications of the traditional watchmaking, accompanied with a gem-set case and a dial.
The oval case is made of stainless steel with full mirror polished surface. Designed with a fairly optimum diameter for a modern women’s timepiece at 34.40mm, the case sports an AR coated scratch resistant sapphire crystal on the front side. There is a solid stainless steel cover at the back attached to the case with four miniature screws. The case, which offers a very comfortable use even for smallest wrists thanks to its short lugs and 8.73mm height, is water resistant to 50 meters.
One of the most prominent features of the Ref. 10347 model we have here is its gem-setting. The case bears two peripheral curved grooves sporting 15 pieces of diamonds each with a total weight of 0.38 carats.
Another noteworthy feature of the new model is its dial finished in a spectacular midnight-blue tone. The blue tone of the dial gets gradually darker form the center to the sides. The hour markers 3, 6, 9, 12 are set with four pieces of diamonds weighing a total of 0, 02 carats. The diamonds on the dark blue dial emphasizes a star-studded night. The moon phase indicator, which gives the model name, is located on the upper half of the dial which can be counted a little unusual. The moon-phase disk, which carries moon and star figures in silver color on a matte black background, blends nicely with the dial. The dial features hour and minute hands only designed in Dauphine style.
Baume & Mercier Promesse Moon Phase Ref. 10347 is powered by the reliable Swiss quartz Ronda Caliber Ref. 708. The new model is offered on alligator strap finished in blue tone matching with the dial. The strap is secured with a Baume & Mercier signed buckle made of stainless steel with satin brushed and mirror polished combined surface.
