In recent years, the model introduced by the Octo product group has brought a completely different dimension to the concept of ultra-thin watches, and continued its tradition of breaking records at the Baselworld 2018 fair.
Baselworld 2018, which excites the watch enthusiasts with the novelties introduced one after another, is home to a new record held by the famous Italian brand Bulgari. The brand's new model, Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon, owns a new world record with a total thickness of 3.95mm. The brand, which broke the record for the fourth time and won awards at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève competition last year, released a new record-breaking timepiece at the Baselworld 2018.
Designed in the Octo Collection, which is the brand's latest flagship, the new model comes in a sandblasted titanium case measuring 42mm in diameter and only 3.95mm in height. The front face of the 30 meters water resistant case is equipped with a sapphire crystal while the rear side is covered with a titanium caseback bearing a small sapphire crystal display right over the tourbillon.
The model's skeleton dial lets the user to enjoy the magnificent movement to the finest detail. Obviously, it is not easy to read the time by looking at the dial that has an hour and a minute hand only, but we do not think anyone will worry about it.
The new model ticks with the Caliber BVL 288 Finissimo. Self-winding movement is only 1.95mm thick. The caliber beats at 3Hz and offers 55 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Featuring a Flying Tourbillon with ball-bearings that significantly helps to reduce the thickness, the movement is equipped with a peripheral oscillating rotor.
The model comes with an Octo-style bracelet made of sandblasted titanium like the case. The bracelet that is secured by a Bvlgari signed folding clasp suits the overall design in terms of both technical and aesthetical.
The limited edition model with only 50 units is getting ready to take its place in boutiques with a price tag of 125.000 EUR.
