Cartier, one of the indispensable names of luxury shopping, was the guest of our Hands On corner once more with its Ref. WJBB0028 model from the Ballon Bleu de Cartier Collection which is highly admired since its first addition to the brand’s product line.
After reviewing a pair of models from the brand newest product line Drive de Cartier Collection recently, we are back with another Cartier model. The Ballon Blue de Cartier collection, one of the very young ones in the Cartier product groups with its nearly a decade old past, is considered one of the most successful series of the brand. The collection is highly admired by not only the loyal fans of the brand but also with clients that have never been experienced Cartier timepieces before and it is one of the best sellers among Cartier series. The collection that hosts a variety of different versions since the day of its introduction is under the loupe with its Ref. WJBB0028 which attracts attention with its diamond paved bezel and moon phase indicator.
The model is offered in an 18K white gold case measuring 37mm in diameter. Bearing the typical design clues of the collection, the case features the unique fluted crown set with a sapphire cabochon. The case measures 13.17mm thick and it is water resistant to 30 meters. The most eye catching detail of the white gold case is its gem-set bezel. The bezel features 117 pieces of brilliant-cut diamonds with a total value of 1.47 carats. It is almost impossible to hide the watch from the wondering eyes with that dazzling look. The caseback is also made of solid 18K white gold.
The dial features the brand’s symbolic details. The surface is finished with two different sections decorated with Guilloché pattern. The markers are stylized Roman numerals and the hands are sword style made of flame blued steel. The prominent feature of the model moon phase indicator is located at 9 o’clock position. The moon phase disk features silver colored figures over blue background in line with the model’s overall color scheme.
Inside the model is the Caliber Ref. ETA 2671, an automatic movement modified by Cartier’s own design and production moon phase indicator module. The moon phase module, which operates with a deviation of only 11 minutes and 26.4 seconds per year, completes a full turn of 59 days and 90 minutes.
Cartier Ballon Bleu de Cartier Moonphase (Ref.WJBB0028) model comes on a black alligator strap. The strap is secured by the classic Cartier folding clasp made of 18K white gold. The model will be sold in Cartier boutiques only with a price of 34.200,00 USD (US list).
