Min. ReadThe DB25 collection from De Bethune reflects the brand’s more classical side, presenting Denis Flageollet’s love for traditional watchmaking with a cosmic touch. The latest addition to the line is the DB25GMT Starry Varius, now offered in a luxurious rose gold case, featuring a unique GMT display with a rotating sphere.
Launched in 2021, the DB25GMT shares its DNA with the 2016 DB25 World Traveller. Like the original titanium model, the new version retains the 42mm case dimensions, housing De Bethune’s 29th in-house calibre. However, this edition swaps titanium for an elegantly polished rose gold case, measuring 11.8mm in height with hollowed lugs.
The dial consists of three concentric rings that display local time, home time, and date. The outermost ring, featuring classical Arabic numerals and blue dots, displays the local time. Pink gold hands with curved tips glide gracefully over the rose gold minute track. The two-tone 24-hour GMT scale and the spherical rose gold and blue steel GMT indicator resemble De Bethune’s patented moon phase design. A central platform with a blued titanium ring shows the date with a blued pointer. The dial’s center features a white microlight engraved area, accompanied by a heat-blued titanium sky studded with white gold pins.
The manual-winding calibre DB2507 is visible through the caseback, featuring a signature mirror-polished delta-shaped bridge. With a 5-day power reserve, the movement includes several De Bethune innovations. The crown sets the time, while a date corrector is positioned at 6 o’clock on the case.
