New color combinations have been added to the Broadway collection this year, which met the watch enthusiasts at the Baselworld 2016 fair for the first time. Among the variants with different dial colors and strap options, we have chosen a pair of timepieces with the attractive burgundy color dials.
When the subject is affordable Swiss Made timepieces, one of the first brands that come to my mind is Hamilton. The American origin watchmaker continues to operate under the Swatch Group roof among the entry level brands. But considering the products offered, we are safe to say that they are not entry level at all. One of the best examples in this regard is the Broadway collection, which is also the guest of our Hands On corner today.
The collection, which aims to reflect Broadway's street style on the wrists, has 5 different variations. Three of them are Quartz movement models and the other two are equipped with automatic movements with Day & Date and Chronograph functions. We have a picked a pair of self-winding timepieces with the newly added burgundy dials.
The models are the Broadway Auto Chronograph with reference code H43516871 and the Day & Date model with reference code H43515875. Both models are offered in stainless steel cases. Chronograph version comes in a 43mm case with 100M water resistance rate while the Day-Date model is offered in a 42mm case that is water resistant to 50M. Both models have contemporary designs and enough water resistance rating for daily use.
When we look at the dials of the models, we see that the colors of burgundy and navy blue are used. These two models we chose from the new Broadway collection may not be suitable for daily use for everyone, but we are sure that watch enthusiasts looking for a unique and eye-catching timepiece will be delighted with them. Legibility is good thanks to the contrasting colors of the dial and the SuperLuminova fillings.
The version with chronograph function (Ref. H43516871) is powered by the Caliber Ref. H-21.Self-winding movement, which features a chronograph function and a time and date window in the 3 o'clock position, offers a 60-hour power reserve when fully wound. In the second model (Ref.H43515875) Caliber Ref. H-30 is used. The movement, which the day and date windows are placed at 6 o'clock, offers 80 hours of power reserve when fully wound. We can say that both models offer very impressive values regarding the power reserve duration.
Both models are offered with two different strap options. You can buy the new automatic Broadway collection with stainless steel bracelet or burgundy leather strap that matches the dial color. The burgundy strap offers a bolder look with its extraordinary color, while the metal bracelet offers a more versatile use.
The most important point of our review is the price parameter. The automatic chronograph model is offered at a starting price of CHF 1,850, while the Day & Date model is offered at CHF 945. I would strongly suggest Hamilton to those who are looking for an affordable and high quality Swiss watch as the brand offers stunning timepieces especially considering the unmatched price/performance ratio. With such a wide range of products, there is no doubt that everyone will find a model that fits both their taste and their budget.
