“Fresh Dial Colors for the Longines Legend Diver 39mm”
The Longines Legend Diver (LLD), originally introduced in 1959 as the Super-Compressor ref. 7042, has become a standout in the brand’s aquatic sports collection. Following the release of a 39mm no-date variant in 2023, which featured blue and black lacquered dials and an updated automatic movement, Longines now adds three new dial colors—green, terracotta, and anthracite grey—to celebrate the model's 65th anniversary. This 39mm size strikes a balance between the 42mm and 36mm versions, making it a favorite among enthusiasts.
Retaining its signature twin crowns and internal rotating bezel, the 2024 Longines Legend Diver comes with a brushed and polished stainless steel case that measures 39mm in diameter and 12.7mm in height, offering a water resistance of 300 meters. It complies with ISO 6425 standards, ensuring top-tier performance under water.
The watch features a boxed-shape sapphire crystal and a solid caseback embossed with a scuba diver motif. The crown at 2 o’clock controls the internal bezel, while the 4 o’clock crown adjusts the time and winds the movement, both of which screw down securely. The timepiece comes fitted with a 20mm beads-of-rice steel bracelet, featuring a double-safety folding clasp.
The dial’s new colors, combined with Super-LumiNova-coated numerals and hands, ensure excellent visibility. The rhodium-plated arrow hands also include luminous inserts, while the second hand features a lume indicator for low-light diving. The internal bezel has a 60-minute scale, matched to the dial color.
Powering the watch is the COSC-certified Longines L888.6 automatic movement, featuring 21 jewels, a silicon balance spring, and an upgraded 72-hour power reserve. With a frequency of 25,200vph, this caliber offers magnetic resistance per ISO 764 standards.
