With the newly introduced Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep, Omega is getting ready to redefine the standards of the professional segment, where extreme examples of the diver's watch concept take place.

The famous brand introduced the Planet Ocean Ultra Deep Professional model in 2019, its most advanced diver's watch ever produced. The model, which plunged into the five deepest points of the planet via Victor Vescovo's Five Deeps expedition, was a giant Planet Ocean derivative with a diameter of 55mm and a thickness of 28mm. The model, which sets an excellent example of man's struggle with nature with its water-resistance of 35000ft (approximately 10668 meters), did not go into mass production despite all its success. With the Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep model family, Omega introduced its new collection consisting of relatively tamed versions of that innovative watch. Let's take a closer look at this technological model family.

The new models come with a case designed with a diameter of 45.5mm and a height of 18.12mm. The bulky case that stands out with its jaw-breaking water-resistance rating of 6000 meters is available in Grade 5 titanium material as well as a special steel alloy called O-MEGASTEEL. Launched by Omega as being more durable than conventional steel, the alloy differs from ordinary steel alloys with its brighter and lighter hue.

Based on the design details of the Planet Ocean platform, the titanium version of the case comes with fixed horns, which we call the Manta Lug that we remember from the Tudor FXD model. In other words, it does not seem possible to use it with standard straps. The model, which is completed with a NATO-style strap made of nylon made entirely from recycled fishing nets, hosts a gray dial decorated with blue accents.

The models produced from O-MEGASTEEL alloy, on the other hand, have a white dial option in addition to gradient blue and anthracite alternatives. Sporty models are accompanied by bracelets made of the same alloy or rubber straps.

The new models are powered by the Caliber 8912 movement. Equipped with a Co-Axial escapement, the automatic movement offers a power reserve time of up to 60 hours when fully wound. Hosting features such as Si14 balance spring, 15000 Gauss magnetic resistance, and double barrels, the caliber carries the METAS Master Chronometer certificate.
