Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Bronze

Oris, one of the unchanging names of the price/performance title, once again brings together the cult model family Big Crown Date with bronze, one of the most popular materials of recent years.

The Big Crown Pointer Date, which has been in the product group of the famous brand since 1938, is among the favorites of watch enthusiasts that love retro models, especially with its classic design. The stylish model is not meeting with this version for the first time with bronze. However, for the first time, it is offered with a bronze bracelet made of the same alloy as the case. The new model family, presented by the brand with four different references, is under the spotlight with its pastel blue dial version, which we think best suits the bronze.

The new model comes with a 40mm diameter case. The front of the case made of bronze alloy features a serrated bezel, which is also an Oris classic. The case, which does not compromise its vintage character thanks to its curved sapphire crystal, is accompanied by a sapphire crystal partitioned steel cover and Oris signed locked crown. The case offers sufficient protection for daily activities with 50 meters of water resistance but is slightly insufficient for sea/pool use. Although the model we chose for the review has never been used yet, with its patina that has started to show itself on its metal components, it oxidizes in a short time and signals that it will be a unique watch for its wearer.

The elegant model hosts a simple yet functional dial designed in pastel blue. Large numeral indices and cathedral-style hands display the time. The date feature, which gives the model its name, is observed thanks to the red detail arm extending from the center and the scale located outside the dial.

The new model comes to life with the Oris 754 movement. The Sellita-based automatic movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and offers a power reserve of 38 hours when fully wound, which is slightly below today's standards.

The multi-piece bracelet, which is the major distinguishing feature of the model, is produced from the same alloy as the case. The model, fixed to the wrist with a button-release folding clasp, gets full marks from us with its unrivaled price/performance ratio, which is one of the signature details of Oris.
