Oris, a rising star among the industry’s independent brands, introduced a new limited edition of its highly acclaimed Aquis Collection that is dedicated to the River Rhine. The new model, Oris 'Source Of Life' Limited Edition, attracts attention with its color palette exclusively arranged for the River Rhine focused theme.
Oris is one of the successful independent brands in the Swiss Watchmaking Industry. Besides the big hit Divers Sixty Five model family, Oris is also highly admired with its modern divers’ watches product group Aquis Collection. Having issued several limited editions focused on ocean environment, marine conservation organization and aquatic species, the brand dedicated its latest model to the River Rhine.
The new model comes in a stainless steel case that we are familiar from the Aquis Collection. The case measures 43.5mm in diameter featuring a bold wrist presence with the help of thick lugs and sporty crown guards. One of the remarkable features of the new model’s case is the metallic grey bezel made of hard Tungsten alloy. Thanks to the matt finish, the bezel’s insert offers optimum legibility.
The case is water resistant to 300 meters and is equipped with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal on the front face. The case back is solid stainless steel and is adorned with an illustration of a map showing River Rhine. The thick, fluted winding crown features an embossed Oris logo.
One of the most distinctive parts of the new model is its dial. The dial bears a blue/green finish with Sun Ray pattern. The hands and indices are characteristic Aquis Collection style with Super LumiNOVA phosphor material. The date function is displayed in an inner chapter ring and a pointer. Slightly less efficient in legibility when compared to the classic date window displays, the pointer date feature adds the dial a multi-dimensional feel in the visual sense.
The new model is powered by the Oris Caliber 733. Based on the Sellita SW 200-1 caliber that we see in most of the entry and mid level Swiss automatics, the movement beats at 4 Hz (28,800 vph) and offers a power reserve of 38 hours when fully wound.
Oris 'Source Of Life' Limited Edition is offered on a dark gray rubber strap or a multi-piece stainless steel bracelet. The new model is limited to 2,343 units only and expected to arrive the stores in July 2018.
