Celebrating one of the most iconic sports cars of the 1970s, Porsche Design honors the 50th anniversary of the legendary Porsche 911 Turbo with a special timepiece. The Porsche 911 Turbo, introduced in 1974, was the fastest street sports car of its time, with a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine producing 260hp. To mark this milestone, Porsche Design, founded by F.A. Porsche, who also designed the 911, presents a limited edition of the Chronograph I—a watch that mirrors the sleek, minimalist design of the Porsche 911.
The Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition retains the classic aesthetic of the original 1972 model while incorporating modern technology. Measuring 40.8mm, the case is crafted from lightweight titanium with a scratch-resistant black titanium carbide coating. The clean design, inspired by the instrument panel of the first 911 Turbo, features a matte black dial with white markings and luminous hands. Red chronograph hands add a sporty touch, and the historical PD logo appears on the dial alongside the "Flyback" inscription, reminiscent of the 911 dashboard.
On the reverse side, the watch reveals a rotor shaped like the iconic Fuchs wheel from the 1974 Turbo, featuring the Porsche Crest. Inside is the WERK 01.240 movement, a modified automatic chronograph with flyback functionality and chronometer certification by COSC. Operating at 4Hz with a 48-hour power reserve, this movement ensures precision performance.
The watch comes with a beige textile leather strap, paying homage to the metallic beige paintwork and leather interior of the original 911 Turbo. A distinctive Turbo badge is featured on the strap, and an additional black titanium bracelet with a quick-change system is included. Limited to 500 pieces, the Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition is priced at USD 12,000 or EUR 10,950 and is available at Porsche Design stores and online.
