If you ask me the most successful sports watch I have been recently seen and tried, well, you have my straight answer. The details are in our review.
Zenith has become a brand that increases its success day by day with its new management approach and being respectful to its heritage. One can easily understand how close Zenith is to the peak level of luxury watchmaking by looking at both the sales charts and the ever growing fan base of the brand.
In our review today, we are together with a model that combines the high-end craftsmanship and design with the technological materials that the legendary El Primero chronograph caliber deserves. From the first moment you put the Zenith El Primero Tourbillon Skeleton on your wrist, you start to feel different.
In fact, I didn't realize that I would be so impressed by a sports watch from Zenith, which has its own place among the luxury watchmaking industry by ”haute horlogerie” style classic elements and thematic models. Black ceramic case, skeletonized case with sporty details and a tourbillon cage with a visual feast of 36,000 vibrations per hour. Sounds good, doesn't it? Be sure that you feel much more than that on your wrist.
The model comes in a dark anthracite ceramic case measuring 45mm x 14.65mm. Thanks to the thin bezel and domed sapphire crystal on the front side, the case feels much more compact than that. I don't even need to mention how resistant the ceramic case is to scratches. Zenith El Primero Tourbillon Skeleton has a sapphire crystal on the case back and it is water resistant to 50 meters. A tourbillon where you can even swim with!
The most exciting part of the watch is the caliber, which also acts as a dial. In-house developed and produced automatic Caliber 4035B, has 35 jewels, beats at 36000vph and has a power reserve of 50 hours. On the movement, there is a chronograph minute counter at 3 o'clock, a chronograph hour counter at 6 o'clock, and a 1 minute tourbillon cage at 11 o'clock. The use of the chronograph mechanism activated by the column wheel coordinator is simply flawless. The only negative side I observed about the mechanism is that it works a bit noisy. If your sleep is light, it is useful to put the watch in a remote place at night. Of course you can also define this as the pleasure of the sound produced by the 5-Hz operating frequency specific to El Primero.
The Zenith El Primero Tourbillon Skeleton is available in black, with a perforated rubber strap and a PVD coated folding clasp made of titanium. To reach the model, you need a budget amount of about € 50,000. On the other hand, you can be sure that you will receive more than a watch in exchange for this amount. It is my recommendation to those who want to experience the legendary caliber of a brand like Zenith, with sporty design and tourbillon feature.
