Celebrating its 160th anniversary this year, TAG Heuer added two new models to its legendary product group Carrera Collection. The new versions attract attention with their designs inspired by the 60s and date indicators positioned at 12.
The new models feature design clues inspired by the Carrera 45 Dato Ref.3147 model introduced in the mid-60s. However, it would not be correct to call them exact reproductions of the old model, as both models feature technical and visual elements that combine the past and the future of the Carrera.
One of the models in the series, Ref. CBN2A1D.BA0643 comes with a circular pattern matte dial, while the Ref. CBN2A1E.BA0643 model has a blue dial. Both models feature Super-LumiNOVA phosphor-filled and rhodium-plated hands and applique indices. The new models feature a date display window with a red-font date disk located at 12, a tribute to the Ref. 3147 model. The white-background model is equipped with black sub-dials, and the blue-background model is equipped with white sub-dials.
The models, which respect the past with their dial design and date window position, use the modern Carrera Tachymeter platform for their cases. Made of stainless steel, the diameter of the cases is 44mm. The cases, with sapphire crystals on both sides, have a water resistance value of 100 meters. Black ceramic bezel, piston-style chronograph pushers, and wide crown reinforce the modern and bold look of the cases, while the sapphire crystal display case back features the "ONE OF 1860" engraving.
The new models are powered by the manufacture movement Caliber Heuer O2 Automatic. The new generation movement, introduced by the brand in 2013, operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers up to 80 hours of power reserve when fully wound. In addition to the hour, minute, small seconds, and date functions the movement also hosts a column wheel and vertical clutch chronograph feature. The 33-jewels movement can be enjoyed through the transparent case back.
TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph 160 Years Special Edition models are complemented by H-shaped metal bracelets that are secured by folding clasps.
The new models are limited to 1860 units each and will be available by November 2020.
