Ulysse Nardin, who is among the unique brands of the watchmaking industry with its maritime-themed models and characteristic designs, added two new models to its Marine Torpilleur collection, which was debuted this year in June as an affordable alternative to the iconic Marine Chronometer collection.
The new models are offered in a stainless steel case measuring 44mm in diameter which is 2mm wider than the first version. The case is finished with a heavily sand-blasted surface which makes the timepieces suit with the retro navy concept. Equipped with a double anti reflective coating scratch resistant sapphire crystal on the front face, the case sports an onion shaped screw-in winding crown (a classic detail for retro-military watches) and a solid stainless steel caseback with an embossed Marine Torpilleur figure. The case is water resistant to 50 meters.
The new collection is offered in two different dial colors as egg-shell and black. Both accompanied with Arabic numeral indices, the egg-shell white dial sports black frame hour markers and black text, while the black dial version features contrasting orange accents providing a sportier look. Besides the small second sub-dial at 6, there are no additional features such as a power reserve indicator and a date window. In the same sub-dial the model’s limited production No. in red lettering and “C.W.” letters (stand for Chronometer Watch) is printed.
The new models are powered with the brand’s in-house Caliber UN-118. Equipped with high-tech components like DIAMonSIL escapement (patented by Ulysse Nardin) and silicon hairspring, the self-winding movement offers 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement bears the small second feature at 6 and certified by C.O.S.C. for accuracy.
The model is limited to 300 units per each version will be officially introduced during the upcoming SIHH 2018 exhibition. MSRP is SFr7900.00 which is a quite competitive figure considering the brand and the in-house advanced technology movement.
