Min. ReadPorsche Design continues its legacy of automotive-inspired timepieces with the new Chronograph 1 F.A.T. 2025 Edition. Paying tribute to the historic F.A.T. Ice Race, this limited edition of 136 pieces features a fully luminescent white dial, offering a striking contrast to its blacked-out case and bracelet.
F.A.T. International, originally a French logistics company, made history in 1994 by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a modified Porsche 962. Today, Ferdi Porsche, nephew of Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche, has revived the F.A.T. name as a motorsport community, organizing spectacular events like the F.A.T. Ice Race in Zell am See.
The Chronograph 1 F.A.T. 2025 Edition builds on the 1972 Porsche Design Chronograph 1 but inverts its classic black dial layout. The 40.8mm titanium case, coated in black titanium carbide, retains the original’s sleek profile, measuring 14.15mm thick and offering 100m water resistance. The standout feature is its fully luminescent Super-LumiNova dial, glowing intensely in low light. Black hands, markers, and indices ensure readability, while the red chronograph seconds hand adds a dynamic touch. Special details include a Porsche 962 silhouette on the hour counter and the F.A.T. International logo beneath the day-date window, where “SAT” and “SUN” are replaced with “F.A.T.” in red.
Powering the watch is the COSC-certified Porsche Design WERK 01.240, an automatic flyback chronograph movement based on the Valjoux 7750. Operating at 4Hz with a 48-hour power reserve, this movement ensures precision and durability. The watch comes with a black titanium carbide-coated bracelet, a white textile strap featuring the F.A.T. Ice Race badge, and an exclusive purple textile and leather “F.A.T. Mankei Strap.” All straps are equipped with a quick-change system.
Limited to 136 pieces, the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 F.A.T. 2025 Edition is priced at EUR 10,936 or USD 11,500 and is available at Porsche Design stores and online.
